Phil is a mortgage broker and lifelong car enthusiast who has personally shipped numerous vehicles over the years — and experienced firsthand just how broken the auto transport industry's trust infrastructure is. After too many encounters with unverifiable carriers and zero transparency at pickup, he decided to build the tool that should have existed all along.
"I've shipped numerous cars and it was always a little scary with the seller or dealership just leaving the car with a random driver. Many times the car showed up on a different trailer than what it was picked up with, or the enclosed trailer it was transported in was a complete mess, holes in the roof and all. Things that a vetted carrier wouldn't have."

The auto transport industry moves hundreds of thousands of vehicles across the United States every month. Yet for years, the only way to verify the company picking up your car was to call the number on a quote email and hope for the best. The federal DOT database existed, but it was buried in a government website that most people never knew about.
HaulBadge was built to change that. We take the government data that has always existed, combine it with real insurance verification, identity confirmation, and online reputation scanning, and make it instantly accessible to anyone in 10 seconds — free, no signup required.

Enter any auto transport carrier or broker's DOT number or MC number and get an instant result. HaulBadge pulls live data directly from the FMCSA federal database and combines it with two additional data sources: an online reputation scan across review and complaint platforms, and HaulBadge's own verified carrier database.
Results are displayed as a clear Green / Yellow / Red signal. Green means the carrier has active authority and no major red flags. Yellow means there are factors worth investigating before proceeding. Red means the carrier has critical issues — inactive authority, fraud flags, or other serious concerns — and you should not ship your vehicle with them under any circumstances.
HaulBadge also detects double brokering risk — when a company with carrier authority only is acting as an illegal broker — and flags broker-only entities so customers know to also verify the assigned carrier before pickup.
A pickup verification sheet is a shareable, printable document generated for a specific carrier and a specific load. It is designed to be sent to whoever is releasing a vehicle — a car owner, dealer, or lot manager — so they have all the information they need before the driver arrives.
Each sheet includes the carrier's verified credentials, a QR code that pulls live data and cannot be faked, step-by-step release instructions, and a unique session ID that ties it to one specific load. Multiple shipments for the same carrier are never confused because each generated sheet has its own unique identifier.
The vehicle condition photo feature lets the person releasing the vehicle upload up to 6 timestamped photos — front, rear, both sides, interior, and miscellaneous — directly from their phone before the vehicle is picked up. These photos are stored securely and tied permanently to that specific pickup, protecting both parties in any damage dispute after delivery.
For auto transport carriers and brokers, HaulBadge offers a free full verification process. Verified carriers have their insurance COI reviewed by our AI system — checking coverage type, amounts, and expiry — their government-issued ID confirmed, and their FMCSA authority validated.
Once verified, carriers receive a unique HaulBadge ID, a trust score out of 100, and a QR code to present to customers at every pickup. When a customer scans the QR code, they instantly see the driver's verified identity, insurance status, DOT number, and trust score. The QR code pulls live data every time it is scanned — it cannot be forged or reused from a different carrier.
Verification is completely free for carriers. HaulBadge monitors insurance and ID expiry and will alert carriers before their verified status lapses, keeping their trust score current.
